Precision Twist Drill formally merges with Dormer Group

RP news wires, Noria Corporation

In July 2007, Precision Twist Drill became part of the Dormer Group, with the two brands joining forces in the NAFTA region (Canada, the United States and Mexico) to form Precision Dormer.

From now on, the two companies will act as one unit, offering a range of Dormer-branded metal-cutting products unparalleled in the market of high-performance, material/application-specific tooling. Precision and Union Butterfield will be the brand for general-application drills, taps, end mills, dies and reamers.

On October 1, Klas Forsström takes over from current president Alan Godfrey, who will remain as an advisor within the Sandvik Group before retiring early in 2008. Previously general manager at Coromant, Sandvik Canada Inc., Forsström, believes that the new organization will prove beneficial to all parties.

"Our new structure provides customers with a common product program", he says. "Now, we can leverage the rapid development of new products and services that is needed in today’s round tool market. The new organization provides improved stock availability with combined warehousing and logistics, access to global R&D resources and quicker ordering options with enhanced Web-based capabilities.”
