Campbell Soup Company placed No. 12 on Corporate Responsibility Magazine's 11th annual 100 Best Corporate Citizens List, which is regarded as the top corporate responsibility ranking based on publicly available information. Campbell dramatically improved its ranking from last year, when it was not among the 100 Best Corporate Citizens. According to the publisher, Campbell made the most significant single-year advancement by any company surveyed for this year's list.
Douglas R. Conant, Campbell's president and chief executive officer, said, "Campbell is committed to advancing our commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainability. I am proud that Campbell's corporate responsibility practices and performance have been recognized, which reflects the effort of thousands of dedicated Campbell people around the world. We are absolutely committed to winning with integrity, while we strive to win in the marketplace, the workplace and the community."
Launched in 2000, the 100 Best Corporate Citizens List is based on over 360 data points of publicly available information in seven categories: environment, climate change, human rights, employee relations, governance, philanthropy and financial performance. The 100 Best Corporate Citizens are selected from among the large-cap Russell 1000 companies. The 100 Best Corporate Citizens List's open and transparent methodology is governed by a Methodology Committee of the Corporate Responsibility Officers Association.
Campbell includes sustainability and corporate social responsibility as one of its seven core business strategies. The company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategies are intended to make positive impacts in four key areas: Our Consumers, Our Planet, Our Employees and Our Community.
