SKF USA Inc. announced August 8 that it has acquired Precision Balancing & Analyzing (PB&A), a spindle repair and upgrade company based in Mentor, Ohio.  PB&A has annual sales of $7 million, 40 employees and an additional facility in Atlanta.

The acquisition broadens SKF’s global presence in spindle repair and related capabilities by expanding its Certified Spindle Service Network to 17 centers worldwide. The acquisition further serves to complement SKF Precision Technologies spindle-repair operations in Grafton, Wis., and Armada, Mich.

Founded in 1960, PB&A specializes in repairs, modifications and upgrades for all types of spindle mechanisms, including anti-friction spindle ball or roller bearing units and belt-driven or motorized, standard or high-frequency units from most spindle manufacturers. PB&A also offers balancing and vibration analysis of components and completed assemblies backed by full applications engineering and support.

Customer industries include machine tool, automotive and others where precision milling, drilling, boring or grinding are required.

AB SKF (headquartered in Goteborg, Sweden), the parent company of SKF USA Inc., is the world’s largest supplier of rolling bearings and seals. The company also manufactures and markets linear motion products, lubricants and delivery systems, and condition monitoring systems for stationary and mobile industrial applications.
