Philadelphia area manufacturing activity continues to expand

Results from January's Business Outlook Survey suggest that the Philadelphia regional manufacturing activity continues to expand. The diffusion index of current activity edged down slightly to 19.3 in January from a revised reading of 20.8 in December. In the special questions, firms were asked about the factors that are influencing their hiring plans.
