Johnson Controls acquires HVAC products manufacturer

Johnson Controls Inc., the global, multi-industrial leader in creating smart environments, on November 17 announced that it has acquired Skymark International Inc., an indoor packaged HVAC products manufacturer headquartered in Ontario, Canada. Specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Skymark designs and manufactures indoor, through-the-wall and self-contained packaged HVAC products used in new, retrofit and renovation projects throughout North America.

"Skymark brings an enhanced and expanded HVAC/R product line to Johnson Controls, allowing us to better serve our customers' needs," said Allen Martin, Johnson Controls vice president and general manager for Systems business in North America, Latin America, & the Middle East. "In addition to being able to offer our current customers Skymark heating and cooling systems, we remain committed to effectively serving Skymark's customer base with Johnson Controls technologies."

Gunther Hammer, president of Skymark said, "Joining forces with Johnson Controls gives our products an expanded market reach, enhancing the new construction, retrofit and renovation capabilities throughout the HVAC/R industry."

Skymark has more than 20 years of expertise in design and manufacture of indoor packaged air-conditioning units, including heat pumps. For 17 years, they have been producing specific York-branded product lines for Johnson Controls North American distribution channel. The company manufactures all of its products at a 120,000-square-foot facility in Ajax, Ontario, Canada, using a management operating system to schedule each product line through an efficient manufacturing process. Skymark's continuous improvement policy constantly challenges the manufacturing process and provides superior on-time delivery performance, with each and every product tested prior to shipping.
