Hanson Pipe & Precast on August 13 announced the acquisition of shares of Carolina Precast Concrete Inc., serving the North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia markets. Carolina Precast's facility is located near Raleigh and Fayetteville in Dunn, N.C. and produces precast concrete structures for storm drainage systems, sanitary sewer systems, culverts, utility enclosures, wells, tanks and piers.

"Adding such a well-known and respected company like Carolina Precast to the Hanson family is consistent with our growth initiatives and complements our existing location in Oakboro, N.C.," said Eric Wheeler, Hanson's Northeast region president. "By acquiring Carolina Precast, Hanson is introduced to a new geographic area for precast and is able to offer customers a full range of products.

Hanson Building Products North America's president and CEO Richard Manning added, "We understand the importance of establishing Hanson in the Carolinas, which is a growing part of the United States, and we are committed to producing products that sustain the area's infrastructure."

Carolina Precast will be part of Hanson's Northeast operating region based in Columbus, Ohio. The Northeast region's 27 manufacturing facilities are located in Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Virginia and Ontario and Quebec, Canada. The region's facilities produce products used for community and roadway development, such as reinforced concrete pipe, drainage structures, precast vaults, noise barriers, bridge products such as HansonArch and Premier Railroad Crossings.
