RP news wires, Noria Corporation

Jack Edl, chief operating officer of Elkay Manufacturing Company and Tom Cook, president of the Elkay Cabinet Division, joined South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford and numerous other local officials on August 7 to announce that the Elkay Cabinet Division has acquired a manufacturing facility located in Barnwell, S.C.

The Elkay Cabinet Division has experienced consistent growth over the last 14 years. The acquisition of the Barnwell facility will help the division continue to strategically grow operating capacity to fuel continued development of the company.

This 243,000-square-foot facility that sits on nearly 55 acres will be dedicated to the production of residential cabinetry for the Elkay Cabinet Division. At this time, plans for which specific product lines and brands will be produced in this facility are still being formulated. Prior to Elkays acquisition of the facility, it was used for the manufacture of commercial windows.

It is expected that hiring will begin sometime in 2008, with total employment reaching approximately 300 people by the end of the year 2009.

The Elkay Cabinet Division has 11 facilities and 3,500 employees throughout the United States. Operating under the brand names Medallion Cabinetry, Yorktowne Cabinetry, Mastercraft Cabinets and Schuler Cabinetry, the company is the fourth-largest provider of residential cabinetry in the country.
