U.S. Steel to open research and technology center

United States Steel Corporation will host federal and local dignitaries to announce the official opening of its world-class research and technology center in Munhall, Pa., Tuesday afternoon. The investment in this high-tech center provides a more efficient operating environment and upgraded facilities to enhance the company's research efforts. The center employs 110 research and technical personnel who provide a broad range of support to the company through advances in product and process technology.

"Through our investment in this facility, U.S. Steel is investing in the future of our company, and the future of this region," says John P. Surma, chairman and CEO of U.S. Steel. "The high-level research efforts conducted by our staff in this facility will help ensure our company remains at the forefront of technological advances – and that our region continues to play a role – in this increasingly competitive global industry."
