Video contest challenges companies to show fun of STEM careers

RP news wires

The Dow Chemical Company has accepted a challenge put forth by Change the Equation by submitting its new education video for a nationwide competition to bring attention to the need to address America’s innovation shortfall. Dow is working hard to receive the most “likes” for its video.

Change the Equation (CTEq) is a non-profit, CEO-led initiative that answers the call of President Barack Obama’s “Educate to Innovate Campaign” to move the U.S. to the top of the pack in science and math education over the next decade. Dow has joined more than 100 other multi-national companies in this effort to enhance careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

CTEq is challenging its member companies to submit videos highlighting the interesting things that can be achieved through careers in STEM fields. The videos are being widely promoted through Facebook and YouTube, where you may vote for Dow. Look for the video titled “Dow STEM Video Contest.”

Dow will further promote STEM education during the upcoming International Year of Chemistry, a worldwide effort to celebrate the achievements of chemistry and inspire young people to pursue careers in science. The company is the first global partner of that 2011 initiative.

Dow’s involvement in these efforts aligns with the Company’s Advanced Manufacturing Plan that calls for a broad policy framework that will enable economic growth in the U.S. while at the same time considering a multitude of issues ranging from education to tax reform to climate change.

You can help bring attention to the critical need for innovative STEM education programs in the U.S. by voting for Dow on the CTEq Facebook page and its YouTube site. Voting is from December 6 to December 19.
