Nissan global auto production climbed 11.6% vs. October 2009

Nissan Motor Company Ltd. announced its production, sales and export figures for October 2010.

Production
Nissan's global production in October increased 11.6 percent year-on-year to 363,227 units, marking an all-time record for the month of October.

Production in Japan decreased 12.0% year-on-year to 87,215 units due to the termination of the government subsidy program for environmentally friendly vehicles.

Production outside of Japan saw an increase of 21.9% year-on-year to 276,012 units, marking an all-time record for a single month.

In the United States, production increased 1.4% year-on-year to 47,280 units, due to increased demand for SUVs and trucks.

In Mexico, production increased 27.0% year-on-year to 52,276 units, due to increased demand for all models, especially the Tiida.

In the United Kingdom, production increased 1.7% year-on-year to 40,355 units, due to increased demand for the newly introduced Juke.

In Spain, production increased 97.3% year-on-year to 11,178 units, due to increased demand for Primastar and NV200.

In China, production increased 17.0% year-on-year to 84,686 units due to increased demand for the new March and Qashqai, marking an all-time record for the month of October.

Production in other regions were up 92.5% year-on-year to 40,237 units, due to increased output in Thailand and India, where production of the new March/Micra started.

Sales
Global sales increased 11.4% year-on-year to 319,330 units, marking an all-time record for the month of October.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 33,626 units in Japan, down 24.1% year-on-year.

In Japan, vehicle registrations in October decreased 30.6% year-on-year to 25,369 unit. Despite positive sales results of the new Elgrand launched in August, the new March launched in July and the new Juke launched in June, the termination of the government subsidy program for environmentally friendly vehicles and the model change of Serena resulted in this overall decrease.

Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were up 6.6% from the previous year to 8,257 units, due to increased demand for Roox launched last December.

Sales outside of Japan increased 17.9% year-on-year to 285,704 units, marking an all-time record for the month of October.

Sales in the U.S. increased 16.1% year-on-year to 69,773 units, due to increased demand for Altima, Rogue and Frontier.

In Europe, sales increased 10.6% year-on-year to 49,366 units, due to increased demand for the new Juke and demand recovery in Russia.

In China, sales saw an increase of 16.6% year-on-year to 83,681 units, due to high demand for the new March, Teana and Qashqai, marking an all-time record for the month of October.

Sales in other regions increased 31.7% year-on-year to 59,197 units, due to increased demand in Thailand and India, where the new March/Micra was launched.

Japan Exports
Nissan's exports in October increased 12.4% year-on-year to 63,749 units.

Exports to North America increased 27.4% year-on-year to 39,560 units, due to increased demand for the new Juke, Infiniti G series and Rogue.

Exports to Europe increased 17.6% year-on-year to 5,935 units, due to increased demand for models targeting the Russian market.
