May 2-8 is North American Occupational Safety and Health Week, a time when employers are encouraged to reinforce and strengthen their commitment to occupational safety and health.
The National Safety Council estimates 3.2 million disabling injuries occur at work and an additional 20.5 million in homes and communities each year. Throughout NAOSH week, NSC will stress the importance of injury and illness prevention in an effort to reduce these numbers.
The annual observance is led by the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering, in partnership with the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, and the American Society of Safety Engineers.
