Nissan Motor Company Ltd. on February 23 announced its production, sales and export figures for January 2010.
Production
Nissan's global production in January was up considerably, by 96.8 percent, year-on-year to 285,986 units.
Production in Japan saw a significant increase of 83.1% year-on-year to 86,938 units due to increased output of the new Fuga, Serena and export models.
Production outside of Japan saw a notable increase of 103.5% year-on-year to 199,048 units.
In the United States, production saw a substantial increase of 110.9% year-on-year to 39,523 units due to increased demand for all the models led by Altima and Maxima.
In Mexico, production increased 41.0% year-on-year to 38,023 units due to increased demand for Sentra and Tiida.
In the United Kingdom, production saw a significant increase of 120.2% year-on-year to 34,877 units due to increased demand for all the models including Micra (March in Japan) and Qashqai (Dualis in Japan).
In Spain, production saw a noteworthy increase of 168.4% year-on-year to 5,843 units due to increased demand for Primastar and Navara.
In China, production saw a significant increase of 148.3% year-on-year to 58,171 units marking an all-time record for the month of January.
Production in other regions was also remarkably up by 112.2% year-on-year to 22,611 units.
Sales
Global sales increased 36.4% to 310,626 units compared to the previous year marking an all-time record for the month of January.
Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 49,096 units in Japan, up 17.5% year-on-year. Market share was down 0.4 percentage points year-on-year to 13.4%.
In Japan, vehicle registrations in January increased 24.3% year-on-year to 38,256 units due to increased demand for the new Fuga and models eligible for the preferential tax exemption like Serena, Note and X-Trail.
Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were down 1.3% from the previous year to 10,840 units despite increased demand for the new Roox.
Sales outside of Japan increased 40.7% year-on-year to 261,530 units marking an all-time record for the month of January.
Sales in the U.S. increased 16.1% year-on-year to 62,572 units due to increased demand for Maxima, Altima and Sentra.
In Europe, sales increased 17.0% year-on-year to 42,985 units due to increased demand for Micra, Qashqai and Pixo.
In China sales saw a significant increase of 116.0% year-on-year to 85,229 units marking an all-time record for a single month.
Sales in other regions increased 31.2% year-on-year to 50,393 units.
Japan Exports
Nissan's exports in January increased 29.6% year-on-year to 35,737 units.
Exports to North America saw a huge increase of 161.8% year-on-year to 15,245 units due to increased demand for Rogue, Infiniti G series (Skyline in Japan) and Murano.
Exports to Europe was considerably up by 136.5% year-on-year to 3,671 units due to strong demand for X-Trail.
