Rockwell Automation Inc. announced July 17 that the U.S. Navy has awarded the company a $16 million contract for engineering support and automation components for the Navy’s surface ships. The five-year contract will enable the Navy and other Department of Defense agencies to quickly acquire engineered systems and services from Rockwell Automation that are vital for daily and strategic shipboard operations, domestically and globally. The contract is a milestone for Rockwell Automation as it marks the first time a long-term U.S. Navy contract has been directly awarded to Rockwell Automation as the prime contractor.
“Control systems designed for the Marine industry need to meet stringent requirements, especially those designed for the U.S. Navy, which operates world-class fleets 24/7 in locations throughout the world,” said Joe Moffa, manager of the Rockwell Automation Marine Business. “Rockwell Automation is proud to have met those requirements and to be providing not only the machinery control system, but also the technical and engineering support both on-site and through our global network of employees and distributors.”
