Fortune magazine has named Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) to its top 50 list of the “World’s Most Admired Companies” for the fourth consecutive year.
TICO, which is comprised of four key business units – automobiles, materials handling equipment, textile machinery and logistics solutions – earned the No. 1 spot in the motor vehicle parts industry ranking. Toyota Industries is ranked as the 46th most admired company in the world overall.
Toyota is the world’s leading supplier of lift trucks. The majority of lift trucks sold in the United States by TICO’s subsidiary, Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A., Inc. (TMHU) are manufactured at the Toyota Industrial Equipment Manufacturing (TIEM) Columbus, Ind., plant.
“Toyota is honored to be ranked by leading U.S. and international businesses as one of the most admired companies in the world,” said Brett Wood, president TMHU. “The work of our team of associates and dealers continues to propel the company forward. Especially during these challenging times, we will continue to work diligently to earn the admiration of our valued customers and top businesses.”
Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) also was featured in the Fortune survey, ranking third on the “World’s Most Admired Companies” list, following Apple and Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway.
The Fortune most admired category is based on a survey of more than 4,000 executives, directors and securities analysts. A total of 689 companies from 28 countries were surveyed.
TICO received the top industry ranking for motor vehicle parts based on their score for these nine criteria: people management, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment, quality of products/services, global competitiveness, innovation, social responsibility and use of corporate assets.
