Grainger honors 20 companies for supplier excellence

Grainger on March 18 presented 20 top-performing suppliers with its prestigious Partners in Performance Supplier Award for 2007 in Rosemont, Ill., at its annual supplier conference. Grainger, the leading broad line supplier of facilities maintenance products serving businesses and institutions throughout North America, presents the award to a select group of suppliers to recognize recipients for exceptional performance throughout the year.

"Grainger's suppliers play an important role in ensuring our customers have access to a broad product offering," said D.G. Macpherson, Grainger's senior vice president for supply chain management. "We continuously strive for new ways to improve our product offering and supply chain performance with our suppliers so that together, we can help customers save time and money. Grainger's Partners in Performance Award recognizes suppliers who achieve excellence in several categories, including responsiveness, information integrity, on-time shipping, cost control, management commitment and order fulfillment. These metrics help measure the ability of suppliers to ensure product is available across our distribution network. Grainger suppliers receive ratings throughout the year for their performance in each of these categories. Less than 2 percent of Grainger's 1,200 suppliers receive this award each year.
