Three named to Electrical Safety Foundation board

The Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) named three new members to serve on its board of directors at its recent annual board meeting in Boca Raton, Fla. The new members are Patrick Davin of Pass & Seymour Legrand, Stephen Sokolow of Leviton Manufacturing Company Inc. and Kevin Yates of Siemens Energy & Automation.

Davin, of Syracuse, N.Y., currently serves as vice president and general manager of Pass & Seymour Legrand and brings more than 20 years of experience in product management, business development, product engineering and sales.

Sokolow, of Little Neck, N.Y., is vice chairman of the board at Leviton Manufacturing. He started with Leviton in June 1961. During his 47 years with Leviton, he has worked in manufacturing, information technology, quality, engineering, finance, and sales and marketing. He has been an active participant in the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) for a number of years, and was the chairman of the Wiring Device Committee from 2000 to 2005.

Yates, of Atlanta, is the Residential Products Division (RPD) vice president of Siemens Energy & Automation. He is responsible for the overall planning, organizing and directing of all activities of this division. Before joining Siemens, Kevin had a nine-year career with Shaw Industries.

"This impressive level of expertise will serve ESFI well as we move into our second decade of providing electrical safety information for the home and workplace," said Brett Brenner, president of ESFI. "Their industry knowledge and vision will greatly benefit ESFI and help expand its activities as we begin planning ways to increase electrical safety awareness in 2008."

Founded in 1994 through a joint effort between Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL), the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and NEMA, ESFI is North America's only non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to promoting electrical safety in the home and workplace.

ESFI's goal is to reduce electrically related deaths and injuries through public education that keeps electrical safety at the forefront in people's minds, and to give the general public, school children and the workforce tips and tools to prevent deadly electrical accidents.
