Cleaver-Brooks Inc. is proud to announce the production of its 10,000th deaerator from its Stratford, Ontario, location. The 10,000th unit is a Spraymaster model deaerator offered by the product group, C-B Package Boiler.

Deaerators are used to extend boiler and steam system life and increase boiler system efficiency by preventing corrosion of boiler surfaces, steam supply piping, condensate return lines and reducing boiler blowdown losses.

When combined levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide reach 15 percent or more in a boiler's feedwater supply, it is imperative the gas levels be significantly reduced to prevent such problems. The Spraymaster deaerator remedies this situation by mechanically removing oxygen and carbon dioxide to trace levels.

Chemicals may have the same effect but come with additional costs and lower the boiler's cycles of concentration, leading to increased blowdown losses. Installing a Deaerator into a boiler system eliminates those problems reducing downtime, operating costs and chemical usage. It also serves to capture hot condensate rather than venting these Btu's to atmosphere, saving additional energy.

"We are excited to reach this milestone at our Stratford facility," says Earle Pfefferkorn, president of C-B Package Boiler. "This deaerator, destined for the Gateway Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., is an integral part of the complete boiler system offering from Cleaver-Brooks which makes us unique in the industry."

Standard tank sizes are available in 260 to 2,485 gallon capacities. Cleaver-Brooks deaerators are offered with a choice of flexible control schemes, including the Advanced Deaerator Control system featuring an Allen Bradley Compact Logix PLC, variable frequency drive, soft start, color touch screen, remote communications, automatic pump alerting system and seamless interface with building automation systems.

Cleaver-Brooks' 10,000th deaerator will be on display at a celebration event held at the Cleaver-Brooks plant in Stratford, Ontario, on May 23 starting at 11:30 a.m. During the event, Mayor Dan Mathieson of Stratford will present Cleaver-Brooks with a gift from the city commemorating its 75th anniversary.
