General Motors will cut production at its two full-size sport utility vehicle plants early next year in an effort to better control inventories of the recently redesigned trucks.
Workers at the GM plants in Janesville, Wis., and Arlington, Texas, will see their normal one-week Christmas break extended to three weeks.
And when they return, the 3,000-plus hourly workers in Janesville and 2,700 in Arlington will build 10.7 percent fewer vehicles per shift as production rates are reduced from 56.6 vehicles per hour to 50.
