Illinois Tool Works acquires controls manufacturer

Illinois Tool Works Inc. on November 21 announced that it has acquired Ark-Les Corporation, a leading developer of highly engineered electronic and electromechanical controls. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Headquartered in Stoughton, Mass., Ark-Les Corporation was founded in 1937 and has grown to become a global producer of electro-mechanical and electronic switches, sensors, connectors, controls, user interfaces and actuators. Products of Ark-Les are utilized in many household appliances and automobiles across the world.

Ark-Les Corporation will be a wholly owned subsidiary of ITW and part of ITW's existing Global Appliance Group which consists of several operating units in the US, Mexico, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, India, China, Brazil and Australia.

ITW is a $12.8 billion in revenues diversified manufacturer of highly engineered components and industrial systems and consumables. The company consists of approximately 700 business units in 48 countries and employs some 50,000 people.
