GM Plant Builds 3 Millionth Vehicle

General Motors (GM) recently announced that its assembly plant in Lansing, Michigan, has produced its three millionth vehicle — a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse Premier Redline Edition.

Since starting production in 2006, the Lansing Delta Township (LDT) assembly plant has manufactured the Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, Acadia Denali and Saturn Outlook. The facility currently employs more than 2,500 employees on two shifts.

“Our workforce is second to none,” said Mike Trevorrow, GM’s manufacturing executive director. “Every time the transporters head out to dealerships across the country, the hard work and pride of everyone at Lansing Delta Township Assembly goes with them.”

With more than 110 years of automotive history in the Lansing area, GM is a proud community partner. The Lansing Delta Township assembly plant is the company’s newest U.S. facility, blending best practices and the latest technology. It was also the first manufacturing facility to become a gold-certified leader in energy and environmental design (LEED).

“None of this would be possible without the tremendous effort and dedication of this workforce,” said Bill Reed, UAW Local 602 president. “This plant has proven time and time again that there is no better place to build a vehicle than LDT Assembly!”
