Alcoa was recently named as one of the world's leading companies for sustainability on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI).

As the longest-running global sustainability benchmarks, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices are used to measure the performance of the world's sustainability leaders based on a comprehensive assessment of long-term economic, environmental and social criteria that account for general as well as industry-specific sustainability trends.

This marks the 15th consecutive year that Alcoa has been recognized for its corporate responsibility and sustainability. The company was again recognized as the aluminum industry leader on the Dow Jones World Index.

"As we prepare to launch two strong companies in the second half of 2016, we will continue using our innovation, creativity and passion to deliver net-positive benefits to the environment, communities where we operate, our employees and our shareholders," said Kevin McKnight, Alcoa's chief sustainability officer and vice president of environment, health and safety.

Highlights of Alcoa's 2015 sustainability performance include achieving its 2020 greenhouse gas intensity target five years ahead of plan by reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 5.5 million metric tons and improving greenhouse gas emission intensity by 31.3 percent from the 2005 baseline.

Alcoa also became one of the first companies to sign the American Business Act on Climate Pledge. As part of that pledge, Alcoa committed to reduce absolute U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent versus a 2005 baseline and to demonstrate a net reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from the use of products equal to three times the emissions created by their production by 2025.
