Nissan global auto production in September rose 27.2% vs. 2009

Nissan Motor Company Ltd. on October 25 announced its production, sales and export figures for September and the six months from April to September 2010.

Production
September

Nissan's global production in September increased 27.2 percent year-on-year to 395,658 units, marking an all-time record for a single month.

Production in Japan increased 19.4% year-on-year to 120,167 units, due to increased output of the new Juke and the new Elgrand.

Production outside of Japan saw an increase of 31.0% year-on-year to 275,491 units, marking an all-time record for a single month.

In the United States, production increased 31.0% year-on-year to 47,909 units, due to increased demand for all models, led by Altima.

In Mexico, production increased 34.5% year-on-year to 45,293 units, due to increased demand for Tiida and Sentra.

In the United Kingdom, production increased 4.4% year-on-year to 42,371 units, due to increased demand for the new Juke and Qashqai.

In Spain, production increased 89.9% year-on-year to 10,366 units, due to increased demand for all models, led by Primastar.

In China, production increased 24.3% year-on-year to 95,413 units, due to increased demand for the new March, Qashqai and Teana, marking an all-time record for a single month. Increased production capacity, due to the opening of Nissan's second plant at Zhengzhou on September 20, is expected to boost future sales.

Production in other regions were up 97.2% year-on-year to 34,139 units, due to increased output in Thailand and India, where production of the new March/Micra started this year.

April-September
Nissan's global production in the April to September period increased 34.2% year-on-year to 2,020,316 units, marking a record high for the April-September period.

In Japan, domestic production increased 25.4% year-on-year to 574,723 units, due to increased demand for the new Juke and export models.

Production outside of Japan increased 38.1% year-on-year to 1,445,593 units, marking a record high for the April-September period.

In the U.S., production increased 46.0% year-on-year to 259,062 units.

In Mexico, production increased 38.7% year-on-year to 253,180 units.

In the U.K., production increased 15.7% year-on-year to 207,850 units.

In Spain, production increased 84.0% year-on-year to 50,591 units.

In China, production increased 29.3% year-on-year to 508,507 units, marking a record high for the April-September period.

Production in other regions increased 91.6% year-on-year to 166,403 units, due to increased output in Thai, India and Indonesia.

Sales
September

Global sales increased 22.0% year-on-year to 381,428 units, marking an all-time record for the month of September.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 72,280 units in Japan, up 6.8% year-on-year.

In Japan, vehicle registrations in September increased 4.8% year-on-year to 57,876 units, due to increased demand for the new Elgrand launched in August, the new March launched in July, and the new Juke launched in June.

Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were up 15.7% from the previous year to 14,404 units, due to increased demand for Roox launched last December.

Sales outside of Japan increased 26.3% year-on-year to 309,148 units, marking an all-time record for the month of September.

Sales in the U.S. increased 34.0% year-on-year to 74,205 units, due to increased demand for Altima, Rogue and Sentra.

In Europe, sales increased 4.7% year-on-year to 56,269 units, due to demand recovery in Russia.

In China, sales saw an increase of 29.5% year-on-year to 97,381 units, due to a high demand for the new March, Teana, Sylphy and Qashqai, marking an all-time record for the month of September.

Sales in other regions increased 42.9% year-on-year to 57,877 units, due to increased demand in Thailand and India, where the new March/Micra was launched.

April-September
Global sales increased 19.5% year-on-year to 2,019,269 units, marking a record high for the April-September period.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 328,490 units in Japan, up 15.3% year-on-year.

In Japan, vehicle registrations increased 13.9% year-on-year to 257,878 units, due to increased demand for the new Juke, the new March and the new Elgrand.

Domestic sales of mini-vehicles increased 20.6% year-on-year to 70,612 units, due to increased demand for Roox.

Sales outside of Japan increased 20.4% year-on-year to 1,690,779 units, marking a record high for the April-September period.

Sales in the U.S. increased 9.8% year-on-year to 445,472 units.

In Europe, sales increased 12.6% year-on-year to 276,722 units.

In China, sales saw an increase of 29.0% year-on-year to 511,800 units, marking a record high for the April-September period.

Sales in other regions increased 32.5% year-on-year to 322,459 units, due to increased demand in Thailand, Indonesia and India.

Japan Exports
September

Nissan's exports in September increased 38.3% year-on-year to 67,888 units.

Exports to North America increased 49.3% year-on-year to 39,929 units, mainly due to increased demand for Infiniti G series and Rogue.

Exports to Europe increased 72.7% year-on-year to 7,761 units, mainly due to increased demand for X-TRAIL.

April-September
Nissan's exports increased 44.3% year-on-year to 327,531 units.

Exports to North America increased 26.9% year-on-year to 170,621 units.

Exports to Europe increased significantly, by 123.4% year-on-year to 39,737 units.
