Nissan Motor Company Ltd. on June 28 announced its production, sales and export figures for May 2010.
Production
Nissan's global production in May increased 41.9 percent year-on-year to 309,287 units marking an all-time record for the month of May.
Production in Japan increased 24.4% year-on-year to 79,430 units due to increased output of the export models.
Production outside of Japan saw an increase of 49.2% year-on-year to 229,857 units marking an all-time record for the month of May.
In the United States, production increased 78.6% year-on-year to 45,356 units due to increased demand for Altima, Maxima and Frontier.
In Mexico, production increased 40.0% year-on-year to 39,107 units due to increased demand for Tiida.
In the United Kingdom, production increased 34.1% year-on-year to 35,158 units due to increased demand for all models led by Qashqai.
In Spain, production increased 66.6% year-on-year to 9,193 units due to increased demand for NV200.
In China, production increased 34.6% year-on-year to 76,478 units marking an all-time record for the month of May.
Production in other regions was up by 101.5% year-on-year to 24,565 units due to increased output in Thailand, where production of the new March started in March.
Sales
Global sales increased 25.2% to 324,545 units compared to the previous year.
Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 43,620 units in Japan, up 15.2% year-on-year.
In Japan, vehicle registrations in May increased 9.1% year-on-year to 33,403 units due to increased demand for models eligible for the preferential tax exemption, including Note and Serena, and special campaign models attractively priced with car navigation such as March and Lafesta.
Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were up 41.2% from the previous year to 10,217 units, marking an all-time record for the month of May, boosted by the new Roox.
Sales outside of Japan increased 26.9% year-on-year to 280,925 units.
Sales in the U.S. increased 24.1% year-on-year to 83,764 units due to increased demand for Versa, Altima, Sentra, and Infiniti G series.
In Europe, sales increased 15.4% year-on-year to 42,835 units due to increased demand for Qashqai and Pixo.
In China, sales saw an increase of 39.9% year-on-year to 81,096 units due to increased demand for Teana, Sylphy and Livina series, marking an all-time record for the month of May.
Sales in other regions increased 25.6% year-on-year to 51,425 units due to increased demand in Thai and Indonesia.
Japan Exports
Nissan's exports in May increased 94.9% year-on-year to 47,993 units.
Exports to North America increased 65.7% year-on-year to 25,179 units due to increased demand for Murano and Rogue.
Exports to Europe increased 294.0% year-on-year to 5,768 units due to strong demand for X-Trail.
