The number of job openings in March—2.7 million—was little different from 12 months earlier for total non-farm, total private, government and most industries. This is according to new data from the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Within private industry, there were 77,000 job openings in construction, and 510,000 in education and health services.
The number of job openings has trended upward since the most recent trough of 2.3 million in July 2009.
