Alcan opens $42.6M packaging plant in North Carolina

Alcan on August 24 officially opened its new $42.6 million packaging facility in Reidsville Industrial Park, N.C., following its investment decision in July 2005. The new plant, called Alcan Packaging North Carolina, employs 170 people and produces printed packaging, including folding cartons and labels, for key customers in Alcan Packaging's global tobacco business.

"This new state-of-the art facility is important to Alcan's strategy of supplying its global tobacco customers with reliable, cost-efficient, high quality packaging materials," said Ralf Wunderlich, president, Alcan Packaging Global Tobacco. Alcan Global Tobacco Packaging has the multi-material capability to provide its customers with effective packaging solutions from its 12 dedicated plants around the world. It is a leading manufacturer of high-quality in-line rotogravure printed hinge-lid blanks, display cartons and soft pack labels.
