Molson Coors Brewing Company has been ranked eighth overall and second in the alcohol beverages category by The Pacific Sustainability Index (PSI) in an analysis of the voluntary environmental and social reporting of companies on the Fortune Global 500 and Fortune 500 Consumer Food, Food Production and Beverages sector lists. The PSI ranking system, developed by the Roberts Environmental Center of Claremont McKenna College, recognized Molson Coors for company-wide commitment to sustainability and dedication to establishing a corporate personality that fosters equality and diversity.

PSI analysts credit Molson Coors with providing thorough and valuable information through the company Web site that demonstrates a commitment to superior environmental and social sustainability. According to the report, "The company leaders have expressed their concern for the health of the environment and their desire to ensure that the practices at Molson Coors do not cause excessive environmental harm. Additionally, the company considers responsible social practices, which weigh heavily on equality and diversity, as essential features of their corporate image."

The PSI analyzes intent, reporting and performance by evaluating companies' relevant Web pages using two systematic questionnaires. Questions are selected according to the most frequently mentioned topics in more than 900 corporate sustainability reports.

In addition to recognition by PSI, in May 2009 Molson Coors received an AA ranking from RiskMetrics, a leading provider of risk management and corporate governance products and services to financial market participants. The increased rating, which improved from the previous rating of an A, was based on:

·        Improved strategic governance around corporate responsibility

·        Identifying and setting strategic priorities around energy and water conservation, and reporting detailed annual performance data for the company's global operations

·        Launch of corporate responsibility section to Molson Coors Web site

·        Endorsement of the United Nations CEO Water Mandate

·        Strong diversity initiatives in employee attraction and retention programs, including a supplier diversity program in the U.S.

The RiskMetrics rating scale ranges from AAA, the highest rating indicating the least amount of risk based upon environmental and social performance, to CCC, indicating the lowest rating and highest risk factors. Molson Coors is again positioned as an industry leader, rated in the top 10 out of 40 beverage companies. The average score for the beverage category is BBB.

"This recent recognition by Roberts Environmental Center of Claremont McKenna College and RiskMetrics demonstrates that we're taking seriously our commitment to review, report and continually improve our corporate responsibility performance," said Bart Alexander, vice president, global alcohol policy and corporate responsibility for Molson Coors. "Our responsibility commitment is part of our heritage, and today is integral to our business driving value for our stakeholders including investors."
