Ohio food products manufacturer investigating factory roof collapse

The Fremont Company is investigating a roof collapse that occurred at its Fremont, Ohio, production facility in the afternoon on July 7. The incident happened in an area of the plant where several employees of outside contractor B & W Welding Inc. were working. There were no Fremont employees in that part of the plant at the time of the incident. Emergency crews were called to the scene and all Fremont employees were evacuated from the building and have been accounted for.

“We are cooperating with all local authorities to assist them in any way possible,” said Chris Smith, vice president of the Fremont Company.

The Fremont Company is a 108-year-old consumer food product company headquartered in Fremont. It produces nationally distributed consumer and food service products including Frank’s and Snowfloss Kraut and Mississippi BBQ Sauce.
