Goodrich Corporation's recently acquired Atlantic Inertial Systems (AIS) operation has received a 4-Star Supplier Excellence Award from Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems. The award recognizes the company's excellent performance throughout 2009 in supporting the Patriot missile program with on-time delivery of consistently high quality gyroscopes for the weapon seeker system.

Goodrich, through the AIS operation, has been involved in the Patriot program since its inception in the early 1980s, when the business was selected to provide G6 rate integrating gyros for the weapon. Together, three of these gyros measure roll, pitch, and yaw for the weapon seeker enabling the missile to be accurately navigated during flight.

"Our gyros have provided an unprecedented level of technological capability for Raytheon's Patriot missile for over a quarter of a century, and we're very proud of this," said Robert Nead, vice president, U.S. operations, for Goodrich's AIS team. "Raytheon's supplier awards are a true mark of excellence, awarded to only a small proportion of their suppliers. We received a 3-Star award in 2008 and are extremely proud to have continued and exceeded that performance success in 2009."

Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems recognizes extraordinary supplier contributions by giving Supplier Excellence Awards based on three important factors: on-time delivery, sustained quality performance, and commitment to continuous process and quality improvement. Last year, only 88 companies were recognized with an award from a total Raytheon supplier list of several thousand businesses.

Goodrich Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, is a global supplier of systems and services to aerospace, defense and homeland security markets.
