On a day when people around the world resolve to take better care of the environment, Ingersoll-Rand plc – a leading, global diversified industrial company dedicated to creating safe, comfortable and efficient environments – is taking its own commitment to the next level.

In honor of Earth Day’s 40th anniversary, Ingersoll Rand has mobilized employees in more than 40 of its locations worldwide to host Earth Day recognition, education and community events, including those in Asia, Europe, India, Latin America, the Middle East and North America.

The company is also announcing the creation of the Center for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability at Ingersoll Rand (CEES), http://cees.ingersollrand.com/.

The CEES is a dedicated global group of leaders focused on advocating and bringing to market energy-efficient innovation and technologies for commercial buildings and transport, homes and select industrial applications. It will also apply sustainable principles within its businesses, for its customers, and within the communities it serves.

“For decades, Ingersoll Rand has instilled environmental sustainability into our businesses,” said Michael W. Lamach, president and chief executive officer of Ingersoll Rand. “The Center for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability is the next tangible commitment by the company to generate and implement new ideas, innovations, standards and policies in ways that reduce the adverse impact on the environment while continuing our focus on exceeding our customers’ expectations.”

Creating Safe, Comfortable and Efficient Environments
Thousands of Ingersoll Rand employees are participating in Earth Day events today in countries around the world.

“Each event represents the many ways that the company delivers on its mission of creating safe, comfortable and efficient environments,” said W. Scott Tew, executive director of the CEES. “It is also an opportunity to illustrate the types of outcomes the CEES promises to offer to employees, customers, communities and markets in the months and years to come.”

The company is assembling and engaging existing green teams to help make the communities where it operates and serves more environmentally responsible. It is facilitating panel discussions on sustainability, recognizing customers with energy leadership awards, hosting guest speakers and community representatives, inviting Girl Scouts to energy audit select locations, and celebrating its efficient products and services.

The CEES Established to Help Make Every Day ‘Earth Day’
The CEES was created by Ingersoll Rand to increase the pace of environmentally sustainable innovation, and to create a roadmap for businesses and organizations worldwide to incorporate energy efficiency and environmentally-focused processes into their daily operations.

Through collaboration, CEES will partner with government and non-government organizations, universities, and technology and industry leaders through research, scholarships, seminars and other forums offering education in the areas of energy efficiency and sustainability.

In the coming months, CEES will announce a series of experts, partners and projects focused on environmental sustainability. The company will also continue its efforts in product innovation, operations and employee programs as well as community engagement and education initiatives.
