MWV named to Dow Jones Sustainability World Index

In its annual recognition of the world’s leading companies in the areas of economic, environmental and social performance, the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) today announced MeadWestvaco Corporation is a member of the prestigious index for the sixth consecutive year. Companies are required to submit extensive data and materials that demonstrate their commitment to and success in integrating environmental sustainability and social values into core business objectives and economic performance.

 

MWV also ranked best-in-class in the Containers & Packaging industry group for the fifth year, demonstrating outstanding leadership among its peers. The company received particularly high marks for its advancements in the areas of climate strategy, eco-efficient operations and social reporting.

Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are the first global indexes tracking the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. The DJSI World comprises the leading companies in terms of sustainability around the world. It captures the top 10 percent based on long-term economic, environmental and social criteria out of the biggest 2,500 companies worldwide.
