Keller Electrical Industries Inc., the Southwest's leading service provider of industrial electrical motor repair services and a manufacturer, integrator and installer of custom industrial motor controls, announced on August 17 that they will be constructing a new state-of-the-art manufacturing and repair facility located on 8.7 acres in the central Phoenix area.

The new facility will house the company's corporate headquarters along with its manufacturing, repair, electrical engineering and design divisions, as well as a product distribution facility. The 105,000-square-foot facility will include 270 kilowatts (KW) of roof-top solar power generation that is expected to provide a significant portion of the company's energy consumption needs. The facility will have five individual industrial bridge cranes ranging in size from 7.5 tons up to 30 tons of lifting capacity along with numerous other industrial strength jib cranes throughout the facility to accommodate effective materials handling. The project will include the purchase of the most modern and technologically advanced motor repair, manufacturing, production and testing equipment available in the world.

"We are extremely pleased to announce this exciting new chapter in our company's history," said Don Anderson, president and CEO of Keller Electrical Industries. "This is a real testament to the caliber of our people and quality of services they provide. We believe that this facility will provide our customers the absolute best class of goods and services available and is something they are requiring in order to differentiate themselves in today's marketplace."

During the design and planning phase of this project, the company retained electrical industry veteran and industrial motor expert Austin Bonnett to consult with the company on the building layout and equipment selection to ensure that industry best practices and lean manufacturing principals were incorporated.

"It has been a privilege to work with the Keller team on the design of this facility and to see our work product come to life," said Bonnett. "There has been a tremendous amount of effort and thought put into this project in order to give the Keller customers a superior offering. I've enjoyed many meaningful projects during the past fifty years of my career, but would have to say that this truly has been one of the most rewarding to date. Having had the opportunity to visit most of the major repair and manufacturing facilities in the country, I believe that the building design and the testing equipment offerings at this new site will make it one of the premier repair and manufacturing facilities of its kind west of the Mississippi, if not the entire country."

The construction services will be provided by Sun State Builders, Arizona's leading build-to-suit specialist, and ground breaking is expected in September of this year with final completion slated for July of 2010. The High Voltage project cost will be in excess of $16.0 million and is expected to add approximately 125 jobs to the Valley over the next five years.
