ARC Advisory Group’s 13th annual Orlando Forum will be held February 2-5, 2009, at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Fla. The theme is Winning Strategies and Best Practices for Sustainable Manufacturing.

“ARC’s Orlando Forum has established itself as an extremely valuable resource for manufacturing leaders like myself who are looking for practical solutions to help achieve operational excellence and improve profitability in an increasingly more challenging global environment,” said Eric Cosman, engineering solutions architect at Dow Chemical Company.

With its emphasis on practical strategies, best practices and maximizing the business benefits of sustainable manufacturing, this year’s ARC Orlando Forum is particularly timely.

“Even amid the turmoil surrounding the current economic crisis, CEOs have sustainability on their radar,” commented Andy Chatha, ARC’s president. “This is because the bottom-line business benefits of sustainable manufacturing are too important to be ignored. These benefits include reduced operating costs, improved operational effectiveness, increased resource utilization, and reduced liabilities, all of which are critical for improving profitability and reducing risk and exposure.”

Dr. Alan Hecht, director of sustainable development at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Research and Development, will provide the keynote address at the ARC Orlando Forum. Other confirmed speakers include Angel Mendez, senior vice president for global supply chain management at Cisco Systems, who will speak on sustainability and the supply chain; Werner Setzwein, vice president of corporate engineering at BASF, who will speak on the role of process automation in energy efficiency; and B.R. Mehta, senior vice president at Reliance Industries Limited, who will discuss automation and sustainability initiatives at the world-scale Reliance Jamnagar refinery and petrochemicals manufacturing complex in India.

In addition to the general sessions, dedicated session tracks will focus on the specific issues surrounding sustainability in the process, regulated (life sciences, food & beverage, and consumer packaged goods), and discrete manufacturing industries. Special emphasis will be placed on strategies for more effective energy management, waste minimization and resource utilization.
