The National Safety Council recently launched two initiatives aimed at future safety professionals. Now, full-time college students pursuing careers in safety, health and environmental programs can register for free National Safety Council memberships. Student member benefits include opportunities to network with seasoned safety and health leaders, career development activities, the latest on industry news, an annual subscription to Safety+Health magazine and access to members-only educational resources.

The council has also created a Faculty Portal for college and university faculty who teach future safety professionals. Once registered, faculty can order desk copies of books, access a complete list of NSC Press books, and obtain industry news.

To learn more about the student membership, contact Cindy Meehan, executive director, Membership, at 630-775-2121. To learn more about the faculty portal contact Suzanne Powills, executive director, Publications, at 630-775-2103.

Both of these new programs support NSC’s College & University Initiative, which targets professors, students and campus safety professionals in the higher education arena. The initiative also offers student award programs, including a Research Poster Award Program sponsored by the Campbell Institute and a Student Ambassador Award Program, each held annually at the NSC Congress & Expo.
